As a long term veteran in the health fitness industry I’ve seen a lot of fads and recommendations come and go, only to come back again in a new and recycled package. There’s probably no field with as much confusion and contradiction as the wellness field. Coffee is bad for you, coffee is good for you, long duration cardio burns fat, short burst training burns fat, take fish oil, don’t take fish oil, coconut oil is a cure-all, coconut oil is poison, you need 8 hours of sleep, you don’t need 8 hours of sleep, keto is the best, vegan is the best. It seems as if the scientists are at war with one another. What’s going on here? The truth is that all of the studies and recommendations have a little bit of truth in them but the key is to look at the bigger picture and decipher through the information to determine what’s going to work for your physiology in this particular season of life. What works for you in your 20’s may no longer work in your 30’s or 40’s. As you move and change through the seasons of life, so to must you change your eating habits, sleeping habits and exercise habits. We are complex human beings and no one program will be perfect for you all the time. My hope in this blog is to educate people on how to move through these changing seasons and find the strongest you that you can be today.
